This is just magic.
It’s De Molen at their best, and yet it’s not one of their big mind numbing Stouts or their out there Barley Wines.
No, this is a simple little IPA, and yet in just one swig it reminds me of exactly why I love this brewery so much and why I clearly recall that day half a decade ago that I opened my first De Molen beer, Premiant Hopburst if you’re wondering, and my whole world changed.
Vuur & Vlam pours a deep amber with a fluffy little head and smells of strawberry laces and fruit salad.
The magic here is in the balance between the deliciously creamy vanilla pancake and gloopy toffee malts and the woody and pithy, dry and bitter green herbal leaves, orange marmalade and lemon zest of the hops.
Yup, De Molen are still magical to me.
