This might be the best beer I’ve had so far in 2016.
A Double Stout brewed with Serrano Chillies, Dia De Los Serranos pours an inky black with a fluffy cappuccino head and smells of freshly made maple syrup pancakes and chocolate.
It’s a deep rich and warm smell and it drags you down into the beer, making you want to take a big mouthful.
And when you do you find a thick and chewy malt that’s heaped with smoky woody coffee, treacle tart and rich bitter chocolate, sliced through by sharp herbal hops, some grapefruit zest and a twist of orange juice.
And all the while the Serrano chillies build with their fiery piquant heat, prickling away at your senses and slowly taking over, making the beer stretch out into the distance as your tongue tingles and your cheeks glow.
This is spectacular brewing.
