Now this, this is very good indeed.
A Rauchbier or a Smoked Porter, you can call it what you want, it’s just lovely to drink, and that’s what matters.
Pouring a deep dark conker red, the aroma is honey and chestnuts and wood smoke.
The malting is thick and gloopy and round, chewy with treacle tart and plum pudding, honey, toffee and some burned brown sugar, and there’s a crunchy red leaf litter hopping that provides a little swipe of much needed lemon zest and some sticky orange marmalade.
And all the while a deep rich smokiness, bolstered by an alcohol heat, keeps you warm and comfortable and satisfied.
