A Porter brewed with chilli, this beer smells quite nice, all rum and raisin and a red bell pepper fruitiness.
The malts are good, with treacle, honey, burned toast and digestive biscuits, and there’s some decent autumnal red leaf litter hops with a splash of lemon juice on the side, and then the chilli prickles in the background.
It adds a tingly warmth to the finish of the beer which is quite nice, but suffers from the beer not being strong enough to support it.
There needs to be much more chewiness, much more booziness to help the chilli not make the beer feel thin, which in this instance is what it does.
Good, but not great.
