Other than liking my Stouts a little more, well, stout, this is a rather nice beer.
It pours a deep purple brown and smells of chocolate digestive biscuits and plums.
And that’s a very nice thing.
The malting is rich with dark chocolate, coffee, toasted brown bread and toffee, and there’s a good snappy woody hopping that gives you lots of herbs and some nettle tea.
The addition of honey from the Sheffield Honey Company gives the beer a sweet earthy stickiness that makes for a finish that’s round and chewy and satisfying.
I’d just like the beer to feel a little thicker, a little more weighty.
