Tailgate Brewing Co. Grapefruit IPA (6.2%)

Grapefruit IPAI have a bit of a problem.
You see, I love Magic Rock’s Grapefruit Highwire and I’m rather partial to BrewDog’s Elvis Juice, but this little can of loveliness wipes the floor with both of them.
As you pop the can you’re hit with a big waft of fresh grapefruit, it’s sunny and alive and licked with honey.
And then, taking a swig you find a rich round brown sugar syrup, waffle and pancake, honey and walnut malting along with a great big hit of stingingly sharp and bitter herbal hops, lots of lemon zest and sherbet, some woody resin in the background and a dab of orange marmalade.
And all the while the grapefruit prickles with life, bringing a ripe sweetness to the fizzy bitter finish.
My problem is that I can’t get this as easily as Highwire or Elvis, and I’m not sure they’ll ever taste the same again.
This is super beer.
