The next in BrewDog’s Hammer range and self explanatory, Chili Hammer doesn’t disappoint in the heat stakes.
What I really like here is that as you pour you smell that big sweet pineapple and garden flower Jack Hammer aroma.
There’s no hint of what lurks beneath the surface until you take a swig.
And when you do take a mouthful the hit of chilli heat is hard and fast and lip tingling.
There’s still the sticky caramel and pancake Hammer malt body, and there’s still the sharp lemon and nettle, the kiwi and lime leaf piquant fruitiness and the steely basil of the hops, and then the underlying chilli heat builds with each mouthful, never taking over, but always there prickling away at your face.
This might not be my favourite of the Hammer range, but it’s still pretty marvellous.
