Too light, too thin, too polite, this little Saison just doesn’t have what it takes to get me fired up.
Especially in the ginger department.
I mean, you’d be hard pushed to guess that there’s ginger in here if you weren’t told that there is.
And the rhubarb leaves nothing more than an apologetic background sourness that does little to aide the beer on its way.
I suppose there’s the faintest hint in the aroma, but again that might be down to the fact that I know it’s there and so I’m looking for it, and the beer is a bright enough gold in my glass.
But taking a swig you find watery malts, nothing notable from any hops involved, other than the limpest lemon tang, and the Saison yeast misses out on any earthy spicy flavours you might want and instead delivers a half arsed sourness.
Nope, I’m not impressed.
