This little bottle of delight pours rather dark for a Pale Ale, but it smells and tastes delicious.
The aroma is peaches and honey and a touch of balsamic vinegar, and taking a swig you find a big round malting that’s reminiscent of a rye beer, with its meaty earthy warmth, along with toffee and toast and a hint of tamarind.
Over this deep satisfying body, the hops – Huell Melon, Mosaic and Magnum – are absolutely majestic, with woody wicker baskets full of melon (unsurprisingly), green tea, sherbet lemons, grapefruit, lime leaves and mango.
Don’t tell them I said so, but Twisted Barrel are quietly brilliant.
