Five Points have begun to can their beer and this, their Pilsner, is the first of their canned beer that I’ve got hold of to try.
And it’s very good, sharp and crisp, dry in all the right places, it pours a pale gold with a frothy head and smells of lightly spiced garden flowers.
All things told, this is a good lagered beer, but I’m getting a bit bored of “Craft” Lagers, “Craft” Pilsners included.
You get the same caramel wafer, white pepper and honey malts, the Noble hops give you spicy hedgerow greenery, dandelions and green herbal leaves and a finish that’s dry and bitter and crisp.
The canning means the beer feels that extra bit fresh and zingy, and that’s a very good thing.
And this is a very well made beer, it’s just that this style is starting to leave me cold.
