Alpine Beer Co are owned by Green Flash Brewing, and Duet is an IPA brewed with Amarillo and Simcoe hops and boy is it fresh and zingy.
Why do I mention the ownership?
I mention it because I rate Green Flash very highly and this little bottle of beer from Alpine is right up there.
It sits a pale gold in my glass with its frothy little head sparkling, the smell smell is garden flowers and redwood resin.
And taking a swig the hops come at you right from the off, with a big blast of sherbet lemons, pithy metallic green herbal leaves, sharp grapefruit rind and a little orange marmalade.
But there’s a good malt body too.
It lurks in the background and gives you a sweet little toffee and honey, pancake and waffle kiss, but even this can’t save you from the delightfully sharp bitter and very dry finish.
Lovely stuff.
