Part of Flying Dog’s Brewhouse Rarities Series, this has been brewed with peaches and black peppercorns and it’s drinkable but nothing to write home about.
There’s a honey and peach aroma that drifts up at you from this bright gold beer as it sits rather flat looking in your glass.
The malting is toffee and biscuits and there’s a decent spicy Saison yeast fug.
The hops are a little bit limp, some bracken and green herbal leaves and just a hint of lemon zest, and the peaches give you a soft fleshy fruitiness while the peppercorns are conspicuous by their absence.
What spoils this beer for me though is that there’s a rather unpleasant sourness that seems to sit separately from the rest of the beer and becomes a little bit bilious as I work my way down the glass.
Not one of Flying Dog’s best.
