Brewed in collaboration with BrewDog Castlegate, this is supposedly a Sour Pale Ale with rhubarb.
It’s really rather nice, very light and refreshing, but it’s not very sour.
And in this instance that’s a good thing.
The pale golden beer pours with little to no head and smells of apricots and rhubarb yoghurt.
And that’s not much of a surprise given that the beer includes yoghurt in its ingredients, giving the beer a creamy feel and adding just a smidgeon of sourness that prickles away at the vanilla pancake and honey of the malts.
The hopping is crisp and green, all steely herbal leaves and lemon zest, and the rhubarb gives a fresh garden fruity tartness to the beer’s edges.
Very good indeed.
