Funny isn’t it, that many of the beers that our US brewing friends term Session IPA’s are stronger than many UK IPA’s without the Session prefix.
Hoppy Birthday is an American Session IPA and it’s really very good.
As dry as all hell, you’ll find your tongue happily withering under the weight of the pithy hop assault.
There’s tons of grapefruit zest and lemon rind, pithy sapling wood and a sticky redwood resin glueing everything together.
The aroma is pine and oranges and the beer is a pleasantly pale gold.
Oh, I forgot to mention the malts.
They’re there and they’re a salted caramel and waffle delight.
All in all this is a very good beer with a candy cane sweetened crisp bitter finish.
