Black Flag Brewery Black IPA (6%)

Well now, this is really rather good.
Packaged in a can that reminds me of old Krautrock LP sleeves, this is a beer to drink while listening to Guru Guru’s UFO or Amon Düül II, a monolithic beer if you will.
Pouring as black as pitch the aroma is flower borders and aniseed balls, and taking a mouthful you find a solid walnut sideboard coated in treacle tart, pine sap and toffee brittle.
There’s some roasted nuts and lots of liquorice, along with a sharp brittle hedgerow snap from the hops that cleans up the stickiness of the malting and has you reaching for another glug.
Das ist sehr gut.
