Generally I struggle to find any coconut in beer that has been brewed with it, and this is no exception.
And even though this is a Coffee Coconut Porter the lack of coconut flavours doesn’t spoil it for me because what North have done is brew a delightfully well balanced coffee Porter that pours an impenetrable black and smells of espresso and charcoal and toffee.
The malting is rich and deep and thick, all treacle tart and burned wholemeal toast, honey and almonds, and there’s a good autumnal crunchy leaf litter hit from the hops.
The coffee adds a wake-me-up punch to the chops, it’s fresh and woody and warm.
I can’t find any Coconut at all, which is no big thing.
Oh, and I love the branding of North’s cans.
