A Black IPA just how a Black IPA should be, this is thick and creamy and yet stingingly sharp.
Pouring an impenetrable black with a big foamy head, the smell of Notorious is coffee and prunes and a little bit of woody walnut.
And that woody walnut pops up in the flavours too, adding an extra dimension to the already lovely body of the beer.
You find treacle toffee and honey, burned brown bread and fresh black coffee from the malts, everything is chewy and thick and comforting.
And then the hops sweep in with sharp lime leaves and lemon rind, mango fruitiness and green herb steely dryness that reminds you that this little beer, with its bitter finish, is in fact an IPA.
Super.
