A Baltic Porter or a Milk Stout with cherries, whatever you want to call it, this is super.
The inky black beer and its cappuccino head smells of cherry brandy and chocolate, and taking a swig you are met by a rich rum baba from the malts, sticky treacle tart, honey and digestive biscuits, all of which is made smooth and creamy and tinged with vanilla by the addition of lactose.
The hopping gives you a dried herb and crunchy red leaf litter pithiness and then the cherries do their thing.
They’re round and meaty, adding a lovely juiciness that is met by the dry dusty cocoa in the rich Christmas cake finish.
