Hillside Brewery Legless Cow (4.2%)

Sometimes only a well made Best Bitter will do, with its satisfying nutty toffee richness.
Legless Cow pours a conker red with a good creamy head and smells of peanut brittle and plums.
This is, unsurprisingly, a malt heavy beer that’s packed with digestive biscuits and honey, peanut butter, brown bread crusts and caramel, and there’s a soft orchard fruit meatiness from the yeast in the background before the hops bring you pithy mown lawns, a little aniseed, sharp hedgerow greenery and a twist of lemon.
The result is a big satisfying beer with a long dry bitter finish.
