Hillside Brewery Over The Hill (3.5%)

Mild isn’t my favourite beer style if I’m honest, but Hillside’s take on it is eminently drinkable.
It’s unexciting but very well executed.
Pouring a deep purple brown, the aroma is honey, chocolate and prunes, and that’s pretty much where the flavours begin when you take a swig.
There’s a great big glob of chocolate right at the heart of this beer and everything else swirls around it.
Honey and damsons, prunes and toffee, a little warming coffee and the light twang of hedgerow greenery from the hops that lead you to a smooth finish with aniseed at its edges.
