More home brewing excellence from Ian at BrewChap, Ampelmann is a Schwarzbier that’s soft and rich and creamy.
Pouring a deep mahogany with a tiny little head, the smell is rum and raisin chocolate bars and a little hit of coffee.
The coffee jumps out at you when you take a swig too, warm and woody, it’s backed up by treacle tart and vanilla ice cream cones, and around its edges the hops are green and pithy and bitter with hedgerow foliage.
All this and a soft smooth brown sugar finish.
Lovely stuff.
