Framework Brewery Columbus Porter (4.3%)

A new brewery in the city that I now call home, I wanted my first taste of Framework to knock my socks off.
But it doesn’t.
This little Porter is OK, drinkable, but far from exciting.
There’s a hint of home brew to it, from the slightly dirty alcohol and blue cheese whiff that cuts across the chocolate aroma to the lack of balance when you take a swig, the beer needs some work.
Sure you find prunes and chocolate, coffee and honey from the malts and a lightly spiced herbal leaf hit from the Columbus hops, but it all feels uncomfortable and leaves an unpleasantly sticky alcohol burn in the finish.
I’ll try again.
