Oh Tempest, you are super.
This is their Black IPA and I want to drink it forever.
It pours an inky black with a creamy fluffy head and smells of peaches, plums and candy floss, and once inside you find that there’s what can only be described as a magnificent malt body.
It’s rich and thick, creamy and round, warm with coffee and black treacle, it oozes honey and waffles and has a lovely dry and woody walnut bread base.
In fact it’s a body that you’d love to find in a really good Porter.
And then the hops do their thing, giving you lemon curd, sherbet and lime zest, orange marmalade, passion fruit and grapefruit, and a big dry metallic hit of fresh herbal greenery that leads to a long dry bitter finish.
Really, Tempest, wow.
