Brouwerij Kees #2 Anniversary (11.3%)

This is a Belgian style Quad with Walnuts and it is an absolute delight.
A great big monster of a beer, it sits a heavy mahogany in my glass with just a little ring of bubbles for a head and smells of toffee and apple brandy and a touch of liquorice.
Taking a swig you find the most enormous dandelion and burdock, toffee and honey, pancake and tamarind body, it’s round and chewy, thick and gorgeous, and it’s set off by a deep earthy woodiness from the walnuts.
There’s a light oily texture from the nuts as well, it makes the beer feel nice and creamy while the hopping hits in just the right places, with green hedgerow, lemon zest and oranges adding some much needed bitterness to the sticky pudding finish.
