This is a hellishly good Pale Ale and, as my first experience of this brewery, a very good place to begin.
Pouring a pale gold with a fluffy little head, the smell is a fruity jelly sweet delight, and taking a swig you find a soft chewy caramel and pancake, honey and brioche malt, a little sea salt and a hit of pine nuts before the hops come in with a beautifully balanced sweet bitterness.
There’s lemon and grapefruit, fizzy sherbet, melon and mango, and a lovely little slap of green herbal leaves that leads you to a soft and subtle bitter finish edged with a brown sugar sweetness.
Lovely.
