This is pretty good, but it’d beer marvellous if it didn’t feel so thin.
You see, there’s lots of good stuff happening in here, from the black cherry and chocolate aroma to the honey, bran flakes and cocoa, coffee and toffee of the malting, to the crunchy red leaf litter, maple syrup and lemon zest of the hops.
There’s also a good chilli heat, it’s deep and round and warm, and a hint of smokiness in the background.
All of this would generally make for an absolutely fabulous beer, but this one is so thin that it looked watery when I poured it.
It’s a beer that is alright as it is but is crying out for more body in order to be something rather special.
