Well now, this is fresh and frisky.
Calabaza Blanca is a Barrel Aged White Ale brewed with orange peel and coriander, and it is surprisingly tart and tangy.
Pouring like cloudy orange juice with a little ring of bubbles for a head, the aroma is farmyards, silage and orchard fruit, piquant and fruity and sweet.
Taking a swig you find a soft smooth malt with a little shortcake and some honey, and then the snap of fresh herbal leaves, sherbet lemons and lime zest takes over as the hops build.
And all the while a damp earthy wooden barrel warmth bubbles away in the background as the beer moves you towards its lightly sour, tart dry finish.
Lovely stuff.
