Swannay Brewery Old Norway (8%)

I’m not a big Barley Wine fan, it always feels far too sweet to me, and this beer is no different.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s very well made with a lovely balance between the spun sugar and shortcake, honey, brown sugar and brioche of the malts and the lemon curd, garden herbs and grapefruit zest of the hops, but the sweetness becomes really overbearing, eventually destroying all the other flavours and leaving me with nothing but warm booze and molasses.
Not for me.
