Named in honour of the brewer’s grandfather, this is a super beer that has been brewed with a Belgian yeast strain, barrel aged in oak and then blended before being dry hopped with UK grown Cascade hops.
The aroma is an old oak lined study full of leather bound books and the beer sits a warm amber in my glass.
Taking a swig you find lots of treacle tart and tamarind, honey biscuits and toasted waffles, along with a pithy dry hit of bitter hedgerow hops.
Then there’s a little brandy booze in the background that drives the beer forward, adding a chest warming heat and rounding out the finish with plum jam and orange marmalade.
Find some of this while you can, it’s a bit special.
