Northern Monk Brewing Co. Hit The North (6%)

Brewed in collaboration with North Brewing and North Star Coffee Roasters, this is a delicious coffee IPA.
I was expecting the coffee to be much more upfront, but it sits subtly in the background adding a soft woody warmth to the sweet donut and honey, toffee and waffle body of the beer.
The hops jump out from this with bright splashes of orange juice and lemon bonbons, mango and lime leaves, making for a big bodied beer with a delightfully sharp and bitter finish.
There is, according to the can, a dark version of this beer – they were brewed for a beer and food festival in Leeds – which I’m now going to seek out.
Oh, and the beer had me thinking about The Fall.
