Wylam Brewery Swipe Right SPA (4.7%)

Another stunning beer from Wylam, this little Pale Ale is head and shoulders above most of its contemporaries.
Yes, it does all the same things, pouring a bright gold with a little foamy head and smelling of peach and passion fruit, its malting giving you a soft and creamy caramel wafer bar, some honey and shortcake biscuits.
And, like many of its contemporaries, the hopping is sharp and keen and fresh, all sherbet lemon zing, pithy herbal leaves, mango fleshiness and a big bitter blast in the finish.
But what is different about Swipe Right is firstly how beautifully balanced it is, nothing outweighing anything else, everything sitting just so, and secondly how in focus and precise it all feels.
Yup, this is absolutely super.
