North Brewing Co. Sputnik (5%)

What a good little Pale Ale this is.
Wrapped in North’s beautifully designed metal jackets and foaming with life as soon as you pour, the aroma of this pale gold beer with its big frothy head is peach, apricot and passion flower.
The malting is a soft and subtle affair, providing a backbone of caramel and shortcake, honey and doughnuts, along with a soft smooth creaminess that stays on the right side of buttery and is speckled with a hint of spice from the yeast.
And over this the hops mix up steely dry herbal leaves, all fresh and pithy, and round fleshy mango, a hint of pineapple and a sharp slap of lemon zest that brings a finish that’s sharp and bitter and dry.
Lovely stuff.
