10|10 is an Imperial Coffee Porter and it’s immense.
I first tried it at IMBC17 and thought it was super.
And I was right, it is.
Pouring an inky black with a thick cappuccino head, it smells of stewed prunes and coffee.
The body of the beer is rich with bitter dark chocolate, honey, treacle tart and brown bread crusts, and there’s a very good smack of crunchy red autumnal leaf litter, lemon zest and orange rind from the hops.
And then the coffee comes on with cherry stones and plum jam, redwood and moist rolling tobacco that’s warmed through and amped up by a rum and raisin booziness that makes this beer feel like a sexy pudding, a naughty dessert to enjoy while nobody’s looking.
This is very good indeed.
