What a lovely thing this is, it being a Farmhouse Saison with pears.
And I’m not even a big fan of pears.
But this I like a lot.
It pours a pale straw and smells of orchard fruit and farmyards, and taking a mouthful you find by turns, honey and pancakes, wafer biscuits and caramel from the malts, a brittle and crunchy yet green and pithy hedgerow leaves and flowers, along with some sharp lemon zest from the hops.
The yeast brings a light tartness and a piquancy while the pears and spices add a round fleshy fruit body and the pop and crackle of warm spices to the finish.
Super stuff.
