With this beer, Ian tried to force American hop flavours out of European hops.
He failed to do so, but instead created a lovely little IPA whose mix of English, German, Slovenian and Polish hops give you lots of steely herbal leaves, nettle tea, a hint of aniseed, hazel and bracken, chamomile tea and lemon rind.
This sits on top of a really nice brioche and toffee malt backbone that brings a sticky sugar sweetness to the edges of the beer, while the aroma is heavy with burdock and lemon curd and the finish is long and dry and superbly bitter.
