Saison D’Avon is a really lovely little beer brewed with Grains Of Paradise, which add an extra layer of warm pepper and lemon zest to the already earthy spiced fug of the yeast and the snap and crackle of the hedgerow hops with their lemon sherbet and grapefruit edges.
But as lovely as all that is, what really got me excited was the thick rich honey flavours that drift in from the waffle and caramel malting.
It’s as though there is honey in the brew, but there’s no mention of it in the ingredients, it’s just an amalgamation of everything else that’s gone into this beautifully weighted Saison, and I want it to go on and on.
