Weird Beard Brew Co. Epsomnia ‘17 (5.3%)

Brewed using freshly picked, locally sourced Target and Phoenix hops, this is a rather fine little wet hop Pale Ale that pours a pale gold and smells lightly herbal with a hint of aniseed.
The malting is soft and round and chewy, creating a solid brown sugar syrup, shortcake and honey backbone over which the hops are fresh and damp and really rather sexy.
You find burdock and hazel leaves, earthy liquorice root, nettle tea, orchard fruit and a splash of lemon juice, it’s properly British and properly traditional in the way it feels, and it’s properly good.
Lovely stuff.
