Brouwerij De Molen Good, Bad & Ugly (8.9%)

A collaboration with Marble and Kees, this is a strong beer brewed with spices and chillies.
It’s a thing of goodness, with the Lapsang Souchong Tea working with the ginger, star anise, honey and chillies to create a rich round earthy spiced body.
The malting is all about biscuits and chocolate, chocolate biscuits if you will, and there’s a hit of green pithy foliage and lemon zest from the hops.
But this is a beer that’s all about its extra bits, with a leather wallet stuffed with liquorice root aroma drifting up as you raise your glass, and aniseed and honey making the finish of the beer sweet and round while the ginger and chilli prickle away in the background.
Good stuff.
