London Beer Factory Big Milk Stout (8.8%)

If I’m honest, I’ve had far too many beers form this brewery that have been little more than OK, but this Imperial Milk Stout is really rather good.
It’s big and thick and chewy, smells of boozy stewed prunes and sits a deep purple brown in my glass.
There’s a hefty malt backbone that’s full of chocolate and raisins, honey, toffee and brown bread, and it’s made smooth and creamy by the lactose while the vanilla pushes forward that idea of a soft ice cream cornet and the hops add a splash of pithy hedgerow bitterness.
All of this is amplified by a chest warming alcohol heat that makes for a finish that’s soft and sticky and moreish.
