Brewed in collaboration with Steel City, Acid Reign is a sharp as a tac Imperial Berliner made with fresh lemon and lime and a splash of citric acid.
It looked a little flat as I poured, but taking a swig there’s just enough fizz to give the beer life, and plenty of tart fruit to make my eyes water in a most pleasurable way.
The lemon and lime is zingy and zesty and fresh, the hops provide a little bushy foliage and some nettle tea woodiness, and there’s a gently sweet brown sugar syrup and shortcake malt that sits in the background giving the beer some much needed body.
The finish is fiercely dry and tart with a warm boozy heart.
Lovely.
