This may not be the biggest Baltic Porter but it’s up there with some of the best.
It pours a deep purple brown with a little ring of fizzy bubbles for a head and smells of bitter chocolate and plum jam.
There’s a deep and rich chocolate cake heart to this beer, it’s covered in cappuccino icing, woody espresso, honey and roasted pine nuts, but at its centre it’s a deliciously baked chocolate cake.
Around it swim black cherries and prunes, treacle and salted caramel, and you’ll also get a much needed lightly spiced kick of bitter herbal leaves, orange rind and mango from the hops.
What I didn’t tell you is that this beer is as dry as a bone, so deliciously dry that once it has sucked all the moisture from your face you’ll still find yourself reaching for your glass to take another swig.
