I suppose it was inevitable that at some point Cloudwater, who seem to be able to do no wrong, would brew I beer that I don’t like at all.
And this is it.
Big Table, brewed in collaboration with Beermoth, is a Table Beer with Belgian yeast, rye and lots of hops ought to be really interesting, right?
But this beer has next to no aroma, save for a thin waft of caramel and, though it sits a nicely fizzing amber in my glass, feels watery and insubstantial when I take a swig.
There’s a wishy washy toffee and a some biscuits and a lick of lemony hops, though they appear to be whispering from another room, and as for the Belgian yeast, it may have left town.
Unchallenging, uninspiring, not quite unpleasant, I managed to finish it, but only because I was thirsty.
