Odyssey Brew Co. Grievous Angel (9%)

What an introduction to a brewery this is.
Grievous Angel is an Imperial Oatmeal Brown Stout brewed with chocolate, orange and coffee.
It’s also been given a hefty dose of lactose to make it smooth and rich and creamy, rich with vanilla, it feels lovely and chewy as you drink.
The beer pours a deep purple brown with a big cappuccino head and smells of bitter chocolate covered figs.
There’s a burned toast, peanut brittle, walnut whip and honey malt forming the backbone of the beer, it brings along a load of brown sugar, dates and digestive biscuits, while the hops are crunchy and crisp, red leaf litter, lime zest and orange marmalade.
The chocolate adds, well, for want of being obvious, a smooth chocolatiness, the coffee is woody and warm and the oranges sit in the background adding a juicy freshness to the smooth creamy finish.
