Tempest Brewing Co. Unforgiven (5.4%)

Unforgiven is a Smoked Red Rye beer and another reason for loving Tempest as much as I do.
It’s a beautifully balanced beer with a smoky bacon and pecan pie aroma drifting up as you pour the rich and deep cooker red liquid into your glass.
That pecan pie sits at the heart of the malting, greeting you from your first swig and introducing you to an earthy, almost dirty, pumpernickel of the rye.
Then there’s a light slap of fresh green herbal hops bringing some brightness while a deliciously meaty sausage smokiness builds as you head toward the toffee pecan pie and woodland smoke of the finish.
It went beautifully with The Electric Prunes.
