Another of Five Points’ birthday collaborations, this time with Yellow Belly, this is a fine Baltic Porter.
The deep purple brown beer slinks sexily into my glass with a little cappuccino heat and an aroma full of treacle tart and glacé cherries, sweet and fruity and rich.
Taking a swig you find a great big malt heart that’s full of pecan pie and chocolate ice cream, wafers and waffles and honey nut cornflakes, while the hops add a much needed slap of lemon sherbet and steely basil greenery.
In the finish the beer becomes soft and creamy, sweet and savoury as you are kissed by vanilla ice cream and candy floss, flying saucers and freshly picked basil.
Very good indeed.
