This little can of beer absolutely wipes the floor with all other Grapefruit IPAs.
Forget Grapefruit Highwire, forget Elvis Juice, they aren’t a patch on this beer from Mike Hess.
Why is it so much better?
To put it simply, it does everything bigger and better.
There’s a lovely light malt that gives you a soft creamy honey, caramel and pancake kiss.
It’s soft and supple, smooth and subtle, but manages to bring a warm round brown sugar sweetness to the backbone of the beer.
Then there are the sharp citrusy hops, bringing lemon curd and steely herbal leaves, sherbet and pithy mown lawns.
So far so good, and it’s made even better by the grapefruit that smells rich and fresh and bright as it bursts out of the can while you pour, and adds the loveliest fleshy fruit pulp and zappy sharp zest to the finish.
I wish I could get this all the time.
