Funk Estate are a New Zealand brewery, a new name to me and, if this little can of IPA greatness is anything to go by, a brewery I want to find out more about.
Brewed with NZ hops and a delightful malt bill, Sophisticuffs gives you a soft and creamy wheat biscuit, honey and pancake, salted caramel and waffle malt body, all warm and smooth and delicious over which the hops are pin sharp and bright as the sun.
Lemon zest and gooseberry skins, green grapes, lime leaves and garden herbs come at you with a steely dry bitterness that has your teeth on edge by the long lip curling finish.
Lovely stuff.
