Unity Brewing Co. Nocturne (5%)

Nocturne is a rather delightful little Oatmeal Porter that pours a deep mahogany brown with a creamy bubbling head and a smell that’s full of chocolate coated work benches.
By turn sweet and rich and chocolatey and dry with woodwork studio varnish and chippings.
The body of the beer is a heavy, weighty slab of chocolate cake, buttercream filling and molasses, and there’s some slight respite from the hefty chewy sweetness provided by a kick of crunchy red autumnal leaf litter and maple syrup from the hops.
The oatmeal pushes the beer even further, creating a porridge thick creaminess that makes for a chewy satisfying pudding of a finish.
Very good indeed.
