With a big black cherry and toffee aroma, you know this deep conked red beer with its dense fluffy head is going to beer a beer to sink into.
The hopping here is crunchy crisp and autumnal, it’s all red leaf litter, maple syrup and apricots, and it adds a nice snappy bitter sweetness to the beer.
It’s a much needed fresh slap that brightens up the treacle tart, peanut brittle and cherry jam of the malts.
This, along with a good whisky warmth makes for a beer to sit back and relax with on a dark cold winter evening, which is exactly what I’m doing.
