Amundsen’s Lemon Milkshake IPA begins a thing of tart citrus goodness.
The malting is shortcake biscuits, brown sugar and Lemon Puffs (remember them? I want some now), and the hops add fizzy sherbet and pithy green herbal leafy zap, while the lactose keeps everything smooth, sweet and creamy.
And then in the finish the lemon leap out with a fresh sharpness that could easily become too much of it wasn’t held in check by the beer’s body.
That is until you get about half way down when you realise that the lemon has started to become overly strong, leaving the beer, for me at least, rather unpleasant.
A 330ml can might have gotten away with it, but presented in this size I couldn’t get to the end.
